Atletico Madrid sealed their place in the next round of the Champions League thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s double against Galatasaray.
A point would have done for Diego Simeone’s side but the Coach vowed his team would go for all three and they did, and claimed them thanks to the France international.
Griezmann was both times set up by Gabi, the first a cross that was met with a commanding header, the second a smart finish after Gabi nut-megged a Gala defender.
Gala went close to opening the scoring through Wesley Sneijder but that was about as good as it got for the visitors.
Atleti are through to the Round of 16 but who tops the group will be decided when they go to Lisbon to play Benfica, the winners taking first place. Benfica had earlier on Wednesday drawn 2-2 with Astana.
