Escriba ‘hurt’ by draw

Getafe Coach Fran Escriba was pained to see his side draw with Rayo Vallecano on Monday, lamenting two costly errors.

Escriba pointed to the penalty conceded by Carlos Vigaray and Getafe’s failure to reach the rebound after Vicente Guiata saved from Roberto Trashorras, Jozabed converting after earlier putting past his own goalkeeper to give Getafe the lead.

“It hurts to draw this way. It’s impossible to be happy. We had enough merit to get an even better result. We made two errors, the penalty and the rebound, and we paid,” Escriba said, Marca reports.

“We all make mistakes in life and we have to support Vigaray. It’s a mistake we all could have made. I guess some felt the handball was deliberate and others felt it was innocent. Tomorrow is another day.

“There are always teams that have more than they deserve and teams that have less. Maybe we could have three or four more points and the situation of the table would be different.”
