Berizzo: Poor finishing cost Celta

Eduardo Berizzo felt poor finishing was to blame for Celta Vigo’s 2-0 defeat to Deportivo La Coruna in Saturday’s Galician derby.

Goals from Lucas Perez and Jonny Castro, the latter of whom put into his own net, exacerbated by Nolito’s missed penalty, inflicted a second consecutive loss on the Argentine’s side, and he demanded his players to “reflect and react” in their next game.

“The difference was the success of [Depor’s] attackers and the inability of ours, which ended up deciding the game,” he said after the game.

“In the first half, they scored from a long ball. In the second half, there was a spell when it was only us attacking, but we lacked the precision to find a way to goal.

“The second goal came from a mistake and ended the match, but we’d be talking about a different result [if Nolito scored his penalty].

“We must now reflect [on this defeat] and react to it.”
