Luis Enrique says he is revelling in “divine glory” after witnessing his Barcelona side defeat Real Madrid 4-0 in the Clasico on Saturday.
Goals from Luis Suarez (2x), Neymar and Andres Iniesta fired the Catalans to a famous rout over their arch-rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the Coach felt his team were simply superior on the day, as opposed to Los Blancos surrendering.
“The win tastes like divine glory. It was a memorable match against our eternal rivals,” he said after the game.
“We both have the same objectives, but they knew we were far superior. We did what we wanted to do.
“[On starting Lionel Messi as a substitute], I made my decision in the week.
“I also wanted to know his feedback and it was a relatively easy decision. Leo understood it well.
“I didn’t see [Madrid surrender]. What happened was that we were at a higher level and superior in many areas of the pitch.
“We carried on creating chances after we scored our first goal. It was a very, very complete first half.
“We then controlled the game and had many more chances [to score]. We gave joy to our fans, and it’ll go down as a memorable game.
“[Andres Iniesta] is a heritage of humanity. We’re lucky to have a single player who has eyes on the back of his head and for the team.
“[On whether Messi’s return would pose Barca problems], no. The key is being able to use all the players.
“[Sergi Roberto’s] the wildcard of the team. He can play in any position, doesn’t lose the ball, has quality, drive, good movement and physicality. He can become a great player.
“He perfectly understood what was asked of him, always finding space.
“Everything went as we hoped. We’re more than satisfied. If [this team] become part of the club’s history, perfect.”
