Neymar has made it clear that reports of him possibly leaving Barcelona are false as he feels “at home” in Catalonia.
Uncertainty continues to surround the Neymar’s future at Barca, with the player’s father recently threatening his departure if Spanish authorities continued to investigate his tax affairs, but the 23-year-old insists he is loving life at Camp Nou.
“[My first Clasico] goal will always remain in my memory,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“It was the first goal I scored against Madrid in my first season [at Barca]. It was my first Clasico and I marked it with a goal.
“I’d always dreamt of playing in a Barca-Madrid match and I scored in my first with my family and friends in the crowd, but I still hope to do better than what I’ve done against Real Madrid so far.
“I’m accustomed to hostile environments as there are some great rivalries in Brazil.
“In fact, compared to what I experienced in Brazil, I’m calm about facing Madrid. Santos-Sao Paulo or Santos-Palmeiras are very tough.
“Madrid have a great team and great players, but we have to do our work without looking at them.
“I’m having a great year. Since last season, I’ve been playing my way, as I played before [at Santos], and I’m very happy.
“I feel at home now. The first year was about learning, the second was better and I now feel more within the [Barca] family.
“We’re surprised that no-one expected us to link up so well. People said we wouldn’t have a good relationship, but I knew it wouldn’t be the case.
“[On individual honours], for me, what matters is to win trophies [with the team].
“The Ballon d’Or is always Leo and Cristiano [Ronaldo], who are worlds apart.
“I want to help [Barca] with goals and assists. I don’t care if I’m the top scorer, I just want to be happy.”
