Nolito ‘not re-signing until…’

Nolito won’t confirm a new contract with Celta Vigo until an unnamed ‘detail’ in the deal is resolved, the Spain international has confirmed.

Mundo Deportivo reports the forward, said to be on the January wish list of Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique, has made clear that the unspecified element is in effect a deal-breaker.

“There is a detail not resolved and while it isn’t settled, I won’t sign,” Nolito is quoted as saying.

“I have three-and-a-half years left on my contract and a release clause of €18m.”

The proposed new contract is expected to raise both Nolito’s salary and the clause in his contract, the latter going up to €25m, but he is well aware of the speculation over his future.

“Everybody talks about my renewal. Until January 31, in every conversation I have, someone is going to ask about my renewal. It’s tiring,” he admitted.

“I’ll re-sign when the time is right, when this detail is resolved.”
