Jackson ‘not thinking of Atleti exit’

Jackson Martinez has moved to deny rumours he is already looking for a way out of Atletico Madrid only a matter of months after joining from Porto.

There had been gossip that suggested the Colombia international was unhappy with life in La Liga after struggling for goals at the start of the campaign.

“I try to do my job in every game, depending also on the collective effort of my colleagues,” he told reporters as he arrived in Madrid from international duty, having picked up an injury.

“I try to adapt gradually, although I haven’t produced as expected. The team has had good results. Personally I have to keep working.

“[The support at Vicente Calderon] is a positive for me and it’s a commitment too. I’ll fight until the end and it’s not in my head, as has been said, to leave next season.

“In my head is just to fight the most for this shirt. I’ll stay as long as the club wants me. That’s according to results, and we know that’s the way it is.”
