Vallejo: Madrid move hard to believe

Spain Under-21 international Jesus Vallejo couldn’t believe Real Madrid were interested in taking him from Real Zaragoza and hopes to be there next season.

Madrid signed the Under-19 European Championship winner earlier in 2015 and immediately loaned him back to La Romareda and while he wants to achieve success this season with Zaragoza, has his eyes on Madrid too.

“At first it was hard to believe because I hadn’t heard any rumours [of Madrid] but little by little it happened. It was a great joy, a time to celebrate,” he told AS.

“I have spoken with Rafa Benitez, when I signed. He said to be focused on my club and we’d talk again about next season.

“I see Madrid as a target for next season. It’s always there that it won’t be the year I’m with them, knowing the challenge that it is. It wouldn’t help to relax. Zaragoza have to be promoted to the Primera this year.

“I’d tell the Madrid fans that I’m a calm guy, and hopefully I can be with them next year to defend that shirt.”

Vallejo was asked about Saturday’s Clasico and, unsurprisingly, backed Los Blancos, and had a word for Sergio Ramos, who is expected to play with a pain-killing injection in his shoulder.

“Ramos is an example of pride. To play with an injection is a huge gesture, to be appreciated. I think I’d do it too,” he noted.

“I wish I could be at Santiago Bernabeu. I don’t think I can be because Zaragoza play, but I hope for the victory.”
