Thiago Alcantara has left the Spain squad to play Belgium on Tuesday due to the knee injury picked up in Friday’s win over England.
The Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] confirmed on Saturday that following an MRI scan, the Bayern Munich midfielder would miss the game in Brussels and return to Germany for treatment.
Thiago suffered a right knee problem as La Roja beat the Three Lions 2-0, and the scan showed swelling on the 24-year-old’s medial collateral ligament.
Bayern have been kept up-to-date with Thiago’s condition, the report adds, after Thiago had to be substituted early in the win in Alicante.
