Casillas: Win positive for Euro 2016

Iker Casillas believes Spain’s win over England shows La Roja are in good shape to defend their European Championship crown at Euro 2016.

Spain downed the Three Lions through goals from Mario Gaspar and Santi Cazorla, Casillas in the process recording his 100th international clean sheet and winning his 165th cap, a joint-record.

“There were two good teams playing and in the end in the second half we manged to open the scoring and win the game, which is very positive for us ahead of Euro 2016,” AS quotes the Porto custodian as saying.

Casillas added that he has always enjoyed playing at Hercules’ Jose Rico Perez, the Alicante locale for the victory.

“I’ve been here several times with Spain and Real Madrid and I’ve always had a good time,” he noted.

“It’s a nice town, good weather, and I’m very happy to have played at this stadium.”
