Emery: Time to beat lesser teams

Unai Emery says now is the time for Sevilla to concentrate on beating “teams like Las Palmas, Eibar and Levante” after Sunday’s 3-2 win against Real Madrid.

Goals from Ciro Immobile, Fernando Llorente and Ever Banega earned the Andalucians their second win of the season against a Clasico side, and the Coach has now challenged his side to produce such performances on a regular basis.

“We needed the points, regardless of who we faced,” he said after the game.

“Not suffering [against Madrid] is difficult, and I’m happy for the players, team, club and fans.

“I’ve been coaching for many years and the demands have always grown.

“We analyse all our decisions to ensure we continue improving [the teams we manage].

“We’re a strong team and the pressure [of winning] has been replaced by the demands we place on ourselves.

“[On Banega’s injury], he took a blow to the ankle but did spectacular job in regards to the work he did because we already know [how good] his technical game is.

“[On Immobile and Llorente’s goals], the goals give them confidence and us the possibility of playing with two strikers.

“It’s great to beat Real Madrid, but we must also regularly beat teams like Las Palmas, Eibar and Levante.”
