Juanfran has pulled out of the Spain squad after sustaining a thigh injury in Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win against Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
The right-back was replaced by Jesus Gamez for the second half at Vicente Calderon, and tests on Monday morning have since revealed “a grade II injury in the medial side of his left thigh”.
Consequently, he has been forced to leave Vicente del Bosque’s 24-man squad for matches against England and Belgium in the next eight days.
However, it is not yet known whether a replacement will be called up, with Sergi Roberto and Nacho Monreal believed to be in consideration.
