‘Granada ready to outplay Rayo’

Jose Ramon Sandoval says Granada have travelled to Rayo Vallecano “to play them at their own game” ahead of Saturday’s encounter at Vallecas.

The Coach knows Los Vallecanos all too well, having spent four years in the Madrid suburb between 2008 and 2012, taking charge of the first team for the latter two and guiding the side to La Liga, where they have since resided under Paco Jemez.

“Vallecas is my home. It was where I met heroes on and off the pitch. With the support of everyone at the club, they’ve survived and grown,” he said at a Press conference.

“Still, we’re going for the three points because we need a win for both ourselves and our fans.

“Rayo are a very solid team who don’t give the ball away easily, plus they have a Coach with a strong personality and a very clear philosophy.

“We’re going to Vallecas to get the ball, press them and play them at their own game.

“It’ll be very difficult but we’ll try and think we can do it. We will be very brave without applying the handbrake.

“Something can happen to you or your opponents’ goal at any moment, so we must be fully focused.

“You can only win if you play as a team and have balance.”
