David Moyes admitted “I must do better” after Real Sociedad slumped to another defeat on Friday against Las Palmas.

Goals from Jonathan Viera and Sergio Araujo earned the new boys a 2-0 win at Gran Canaria to leave La Real with the same points tally as when the former Everton and Manchester United manager succeeded Jagoba Arrasate last season.

“The players and I must do better,” he said after the game.

“We can’t depend on Imanol Agirretxe’s goals and must defend better.

“Coaches of all teams in the world would be concerned about our situation, but I’m not worried. I’m used to it.

“The season is long and I have confidence in the players, but they must demonstrate their quality.

“We had chances in the first 15 minutes but didn’t take them. We deserved more from recent matches but not [on Friday].

“I expect to finish the season here, and my players are better than what they showed [on Friday].

“[Las Palmas] didn’t have many chances either, but they were more effective.”
