Gracia: Malaga building momentum

Javi Gracia says Malaga “want to prolong our momentum for as long as possible” with another win against Sporting Gijon on Sunday.

The Andalucians travel to El Molinon with the intention of securing back-to-back victories for the first time this season, having defeated high-flying Deportivo La Coruna 3-0 last week.

“After a positive result, you’re always a good mood and confidence is created,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“We’ve worked well and intensely during the week, aware and convinced of the importance of our next match, wanting to prolong our momentum for as long as possible, and winning points away from home with the intention of improving.

“We’re playing against a team at home who have not been able to achieve wins, although they’ve picked up some points, such as the draw against Real Madrid in the first round.

“They’re a team of many qualities, young and brave and well supported by fans who make life very difficult for the opponents. They support their team a lot, with plenty of passion.

“Nonetheless, we have reasons to be optimistic and positive. We’ve taken the 19 players we have available, whom I expect will give us the joy of a good result in Gijon.

“We’re doing our bit to help our injured players recover fully, but for now we’re in a situation where several players are out of the team. We always try to play our best team.”
