Camacho welcomes West Brom links

Ignacio Camacho has welcomed speculation linking him with West Brom but admits he would stay at Malaga for another 10 years.

The Premier League side are the latest team to be credited with an interest in the midfielder, who made his Spain debut earlier in the year, but he insists the rumour mill only serves to improve his game.

“[On links with West Brom], I’m very clear in that regard. I work to improve and take the team [Malaga] where I can. I don’t know about the rest,” he told AS.

“I’ve not had a sheet of paper to sign placed in front of me. It’s always good to hear things like that [interest], but I have a contract [with Malaga] and I'm happy here.

“If a team ever come in for me then it has to be good for everyone. These things don’t affect my focus, but it’s good that [the media] are putting these things on my mind every so often.

“I hate [being half-owned by a third party], I can’t deny that. I don’t like it because it’s not a decision that I’ve made.

“Only the club know why they’ve made this decision. If at any time I’ve been able to help the club move forward then that’s great, but it wasn’t my decision.

“[On previously being close to an exit], that’s football. Market after market, I’m supposed to be the first player out, but I’ve always said that I can wait.

“I’ve always said that the day I leave, I’ll do so honourably. I’ve behaved very well with the club and the club have behaved very well with me.

“I don’t think there will be any problems if the situation [of leaving] really came, but I’d forget [about leaving] if a 10-year contract was on the table as I’d sign it straight away.

“It’s true that there have been talks and no problems, but I don’t know where the negotiations are at the moment.

“It’s something which was discussed in the summer and remains open.

“The hope is that we’re both in agreement, the club want me to stay here and I feel loved. Either way, I have a contract until 2019.”
