Adriano welcomes Copa run-out

Barcelona full-back Adriano was more content with the chance to get back on the pitch against Villanovense than he was upset with the goalless draw.

The minnows held the Copa del Rey holders to a first leg blank and Adriano spoke to reports post-match.

“[The game] has been useful to me to return to playing and be available for the Coach. I want to regain confidence little by little,” he said, Marca reports.

“With all due respect to my teammates I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. The minutes I get to play, I try to do my best where the Coach puts me.”

Adriano also confirmed his intention to remain at Camp Nou, having been linked with a move away both over the summer, and in the upcoming winter transfer window.

“There have been many things that aren’t true, and you know how it is. What I feel now is that I have two more years on my contract with Barca,” he noted.

“I had offers in the summer but I didn’t want to leave and the club didn’t want me to leave. I spoke to Robert Fernandez [the technical director] and to [Luis Enrique] and they said they wanted me in the group and the President didn’t want to sell.

“I have a contract until 2017. I’m happy here, I want to play the minutes I can. I don’t think about leaving but staying.”
