Messi renewal ‘on Barca agenda’

Barcelona have on their agenda a new contract for Lionel Messi and while there’s no rush, reports say the Argentine is next in line for renegotiations after Neymar.

Sport claim Barca are looking at Messi’s contract, which expires in 2018, with a view to extending it so he will be at Camp Nou until retirement.

Messi signed a new deal in 2014 that pays €20m after tax and has a release clause of €250m. He also receives between €4m and €5m in bonuses and could get improved terms.

But Neymar’s contract is for now the priority of President Josep Maria Bartomeu and his fellow directors, with the intention to tie the Brazil international down at some point this season.
