Krychowiak renewal ‘closer’

Grzegorz Krychowiak is getting closer to agreeing a contract renewal with Sevilla after Los Rojiblancos lowered his proposed release clause.

Estadio Deportivo reports the parties are nearing a deal after Sevilla dropped their insistence that a new contract contains a €45m release clause.

Krychowiak’s side felt setting his price so high would restrict his options in the future and leave Sevilla in total control.

The Poland international is said to be happy at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan despite interest from the Premier League and not looking to move on, but his representatives didn’t want to give so much to Sevilla and England is his likely destination in the long-term.

Krychowiak’s current deal runs until 2018 and the intention is to extend it to 2020, and originally his release clause would have been increased in instalments, from €15m, to €30m, to €45m.

Those terms were rejected and Sevilla and sporting director Monchi, who is said to have made Krychowiak’s renewal his priority, are preparing an offer they feel will be acceptable.

Estadio Deportivo suggest Krychowiak’s clause won’t be set so high in the second approach and that is why Sevilla are confident of reaching a deal.
