Moyes: Not our best game, but…

David Moyes felt Real Sociedad’s 4-0 victory over Levante on Sunday was not their best game but confessed “goals are what count”.

Carlos Vela’s first goals of the season, complemented by strikes from Imanol Agirretxe and Asier Illarramendi sealed only La Real’s second win of the season to push them into 14th place, but the Scot believes his side are capable of playing “a lot better”.

“I don’t think it was our best game,” he said after the game.

“I think we played a lot better in other games but failed to score as Levante had chances of their own, and goals determine whether you played well or badly.

“We came into the match as the team with the fewest shots on goal in the League, and goals are what count.

“The most important thing is that the team knew they had to win, played with a great mentality and showed great determination.

“[On whether the result saved his job], we’ve always worked and prepared for matches in the same way.”
