Navas: Confidence key to form

Keylor Navas has put his goalkeeping heroics this season down to “confidence” after helping Real Madrid to a 3-1 win against Celta Vigo on Saturday.

The Costa Rican has now conceded just three goals in Los Blancos’ opening 12 games following another succession of saves at Balaidos, but he insists there is no special explanation to the manner in which he has grabbed his opportunity.

“We managed to win at a tough venue. Tests like these strengthens our objectives for the season,” he said after the game.

“We are united, motivated and enjoying the victories because they’re the products of our hard work, but there’s still a long way to go and we want to be consistent.

“I received every shot with great security and thank God for that.

“I leave here happy and satisfied, firstly for the win and secondly because I was able to stop all of Celta’s best moves. The goal they scored was well placed and difficult to save.

“The confidence I feel is very important. My achievements have been made possible through the work I do every week and support I get from my teammates.”
