Oliveira offered to Barca?

Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Valencia, Real Betis and Real Zaragoza striker Ricardo Oliveira in January.

The 35-year-old has enjoyed an Indian summer of late, marking his eight-year absence from the Brazil squad with a goal against Venezuela in 2018 World Cup qualifying last month.

Now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that La Blaugrana could be about to take advantage of their good relationship with Roberto de Assis Moreira – Ronaldinho’s agent brother – by swooping in for his client.

Barca are intent on replacing Pedro Rodriguez with a player who possesses good movement, technique, versatility and scoring ability, attributes which the newspaper claims Oliveira has in abundance.

In addition, MD cites how his experience would allow him to slot seamlessly into Luis Enrique’s squad and cover Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar in their absence, with Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez continuing to struggle.

Although Enrique is still keen on landing Nolito, Barca’s economic situation makes the Celta Vigo star a difficult prospect.

Oliveira’s arrival would have shades of Barca signing Henrik Larsson from Celtic 10 years ago, the then-veteran ultimately inspiring the club to Champions League glory in 2006.
