Paco: I’d be mediocre, if…

Paco Jemez claims “if I was judged on results alone, I’d be a mediocre Coach” after Rayo Vallecano’s 5-2 defeat to Barcelona on Saturday.

Los Vallecanos had 22 attempts on Claudio Bravo’s goal and more possession than the Catalans, and the Coach made it clear in no uncertain terms that he would not be abandoning his attacking philosophy any time soon, despite suggestions that his side were undisciplined at the other end.

“We lost the game in a minute,” he said after the game.

“Regardless of the outcome, someone who had not seen the match wouldn’t have known who the big and small team were.

“I’m satisfied with the work of the players. The bench enjoyed it!

“If I was judged on results alone, I’d be a mediocre Coach. I can’t draw conclusions from a minute of football.

“[Our performance] will help us win other matches. I’m very proud of his team. They’re a great bunch.”
