Griezmann: My best yet to come

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has warned La Liga defences that “my best is yet to come” after reflecting on his own start to the season.

The Frenchman arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu from Real Sociedad last year as a winger but has flourished since being redeployed as a second striker by Diego Simeone, going on to score 30 goals in only 59 matches for Los Colchoneros.

“I work hard every day to improve and discover my limits, and hopefully I can give more to the team and continue improving in all facets of my game,” he said at a Press conference, Marca reports.

“I know that my teammates and Coach trust me, and I know they expect goals and assists from me.

“It’s what I try to do every game, but the star [of Atleti] is the team.

“I don’t know if I’m playing the best football of my career. [I also enjoyed myself when] I won promotion to La Liga with Real [Sociedad], qualified for the Champions League with Real and in the final part of last season [with Atletico].

“I’ve also started this season very well, so I hope that my best is yet to come.

“I’m playing with the most confidence I’ve ever had and I’m the most complete I’ve ever been.”
