Madrid players unhappy with Rafa?

The Real Madrid squad are reportedly unhappy with Rafa Benitez’s perceived attempts to erase the legacy left behind at the club by Carlo Ancelotti.

The 55-year-old has endured a testing start to his career at the Santiago Bernabeu since replacing the Italian this summer, and Marca claims the difficulties continue to transpire, with the dressing room still allies of their previous boss.

The newspaper claims Benitez’s criticism of Ancelotti’s defensive frailities after Los Blancos’ 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid a fortnight ago did not go down well with the team, therefore straining relations between the two parties.

Benitez’s frustrations have not been confined to the public domain, however, as the Coach is also on record as stressing his disdain with the former Milan and Chelsea trainer to the players at the club’s Valdebebas training complex.

Other examples of Marca’s stance include Benitez’s refusal to brand Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player he has ever coached – in stark contrast to Ancelotti, who continually backed the No 7 to always run out top goalscorer – and acknowledgment of Sergio Ramos’ mistake in the capital derby.

Nonetheless, Madrid remain unbeaten under the ex-Valencia, Liverpool and Napoli man in 2015-16.
