Ronaldo ‘not happy with Bale agent’

Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly unhappy with comments made by the agent of Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale.

Jonathan Barnett gave an interview to the Guardian in which he insisted the players got along fine, but appeared to take a shot at Ronaldo by saying Bale ‘doesn’t want to be the best at selling underwear,’ assumed to be a reference to Ronaldo’s commercial activities.

AS reports Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes did not take the remark kindly, despite Rafa Benitez having claimed there aren’t any problems between them, amid reports Benitez contacted Bale directly to clarify Barnett’s statement.

It’s also pointed out that Barnett has more than once given inflammatory quotes, often regarding Ronaldo and his client’s position, literally or figuratively, in the Madrid team.

AS suggests Ronaldo made his unhappiness known to President Florentino Perez at the ceremony to present his fourth Golden Boot, and the newspaper claims Perez’s unhappiness at the situation was apparent too.

Bale was originally due back in Madrid for training on Wednesday evening but the club allowed him to stay in Wales a little longer for an event, so Bale and Ronaldo haven’t yet come face-to-face following Barnett’s jibe.
