Nolito ‘would reject Arsenal for Barca’

It’s claimed Celta Vigo forward Nolito would reject a far more lucrative offer from Arsenal if Barcelona follow up on their interest in the January window.

Mundo Deportivo say the Spain international will receive an approach from the Premier League side that would treble his current wages and, as he nears 29 with his birthday on Thursday, would be the last big contract he signs.

But Nolito wants to return to Camp Nou and would do so even if Barca’s offer was lower than that of the Gunners, MD suggesting that a desire for his children to be born in Barcelona also a factor.

Nolito also wants to know where Barca stand as Arsenal’s offer has already been lodged, and he has given Barca a month to make a decision.

Barca Coach Luis Enrique previously worked with Nolito both at Celta and at Barca B, and is the one pushing his case at the club today.

Enrique is of the opinion that Nolito would not need time to adapt to the team or the League, should he be signed in January, unlike other possible arrivals.

There are people in powerful positions at Barca who are baulking at the idea of paying €18m for a player who was allowed to leave for free in 2011, however, and would prefer to see Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi given further chances.
