Thiago Alcantara is ready to fight for his Spain place and believes each of the players of his generation in the frame will do likewise.
Vicente Del Bosque named an unfamiliar XI for the final Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine, won through a Mario Gaspar goal created by Thiago, who spoke to reporters after the final whistle.
“We were better in the first half than the second. We knew this match was more difficult than Luxembourg because we had already qualified,” he said, Marca reports.
“But [the members of the squad] who have played less and myself, who has been [away from the squad] for a long time, we were eager.
“Sensational is too small to describe David De Gea. He was wonderful and he stopped everything.
“There are hundreds of players fighting for a place in the team. The young players are ready to come here more often.”
