Vitolo makes Sevilla vow

Vitolo has assured Sevilla fans that the team “will leave their skins on the pitch” for the remainder of the season after finally appearing to turn a corner.

The Andalucians failed to win any of their first five La Liga games of the season but have since emerged victorious in their last two, and the winger believes his side are well on their way towards repaying the fans for their continued support.

“For us, the most important thing was getting wins on the board after our bad start,” he told AS.

“These two victories [against Rayo and Barcelona] have moved us up the table and nearer to where we want to be, which is in Europe.

“It's true that we must correct many things, but the most important thing at the moment is to achieve good results and give a good account of ourselves.

“We realised we weren't playing well or running enough, and our success over the years has derived from everyone working on the pitch for each other.

“Ultimately, if we do that, together with the quality we have, the results will follow.

“We must continue with the mentality of our last two home games, running and working hard, to ensure we'll be fine.

“The fans have to trust me when I say that the players will leave their skins on the pitch.

“[The Champions League] is more demanding than the Europa League, but we have a strong squad. It's a great tournament, which we all want to play in.”
