Valverde & Jemez in Spain running?

Ernesto Valverde and Paco Jemez have been put forward as early frontrunners to replace Vicente del Bosque as Spain Coach after Euro 2016.

The former Real Madrid veteran recently revealed he had made a decision on his future with La Roja, and defender Mikel San Jose believes his country should look no further than the Athletic Bilbao boss.

“We have a Coach at the moment, so we'll see happens,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Spain's Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine on Monday.

“I can only say that Valverde's an ideal candidate. He's a technical Coach and always instilled character in his team to dominate games.

“He's a similar Coach to Del Bosque.”

Meanwhile, a poll run by AS' website saw Rayo Vallecano boss Jemez emerge as the most popular choice, with 23.2 percent of the vote (5,525) – a little under 5% more than those in Pep Guardiola's favour.

The former defender also possesses international pedigree, having represented Spain at Euro 2000.
