‘Del Bosque Spain’s best option’

Marc Bartra has urged Vicente del Bosque to stay on as Spain Coach after Euro 2016, regardless of the outcome.

The former Real Madrid veteran recently revealed he had made a decision on his future, amid speculation he could vacate his role next summer, but the Barcelona defender believes there is no-one better qualified to lead La Roja than the incumbent boss.

“I feel good. [Spain] are used to playing teams who sit back, but I felt very comfortable next to [Gerard] Pique and the team’s objective was met,” he said after Spain’s 4-0 victory over Luxembourg on Friday, in which he started.

“[Pique and Sergio Ramos] are two of the best centre-backs in the world, but I’m here if need be and I can meet the team’s demands or exceed that level if possible.

“[Del Bosque] decides who to play, but it’s thanks to him that I could fulfil a dream [with Spain]. He’s the best Coach we could ask for in light of everything.

“You have to give credit to the teams in our group. Football has become a lot more equal and opponents can complicate things by sitting back. It’s what we usually see.”
