Villar to be interim UEFA President?

Reports in Spain say the head of the Spanish Football Federation, Angel Maria Villar, will step in for Michel Platini at UEFA after he was suspended by FIFA.

Platini was on Thursday given a 90-day ban, along with FIFA President Sepp Blatter and secretary general Jerome Valcke, by the organisation’s ethics committee.

Sport reports the EFE agency as saying Villar, a UEFA Vice-President and head of the referees’ committee, the legal committee and the Vice-President of a number of other committees, will take over on an interim basis.

Villar has been a member of the UEFA executive committee since 1992, Sport add, and is also a Vice-President of FIFA. Issa Hayatou is to step in for Blatter at FIFA.
