Modric wants La Liga and CL

Luka Modric doesn’t believe Real Madrid this season have to choose to chase either the League or the Champions League. ‘Why can’t we win both?’

Modric and fellow Madrid midfielder and Croatia international Mateo Kovacic have been interviewed by Marca while on international duty, and Modric said during the discussion that he doesn’t believe Los Blancos have to prioritise one tournament over another.

“La Liga or the Champions League? No, no, both trophies. Why can’t we win both?” he said in reply when asked if he had a preference.

“There is the team and the players to do so. We have to be optimistic,” Kovacic added, before lifting the lid on what it’s like to walk in to Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’ve realised what it means to be at Real Madrid. Everything that’s said is true. When you’re outside the club it can seem exaggerated, but it’s not.

“It’s the biggest thing as a club and as a team. By your side there are the best players and it’s great for me to play with them, to learn from them and contribute to the team.”
