Del Bosque: Laporte? He’s excellent…

Vicente Del Bosque refused to be drawn on the suggestion Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte could switch allegiances and represent Spain.

Laporte confirmed it was a possibility as he wants to play at Euro 2016 but, despite captaining the France Under-21 side, he has yet to make a senior appearance.

The centre-back qualifies to play for Spain and was approached by La Roja when he was younger, a fact of which Del Bosque was aware.

“There was a little contact but he opted for France. He’s an excellent player,” Del Bosque said during an appearance on Cadena Cope, Marca reports.

The Coach was also asked about Laporte’s club colleague, Artiz Aduriz, and noted he was on the team’s radar, as well as discussing Thiago Alcantara’s return.

“Aduriz is doing a great job and he could be called at any time,” Del Bosque continued.

“Thiago will contribute his talent and ability. He can create and score.”
