Keylor wary of complacency

Keylor Navas insists he won’t get complacent at Real Madrid as he has had to wait a long time for his opportunity.

Navas has become his club’s first choice goalkeeper after Iker Casillas was allowed to leave for Porto and a move for David De Gea broke down.

“I haven’t had it easy any place I’ve been and I had to swim against the tide, but when you swim upstream you come out stronger,” the Costa Rica international said, Marca reports.

“A lot of times you get to a place where people were there before you and have a lot of experience and that’s where you have to work and climb slowly, to earn the opportunity.

“I was lucky to only wait one year for the chance for which other people have to wait longer. God has prepared me for the chance and I’ve been at my best physical and mental level.

“I thank God I’m doing a good job. I’ve worked for a long time to seize my opportunities when they come. I never go out there thinking of doing the right things for someone to see. Football is my job and my passion.”
