Enrique: Defeat is unbelievable

Luis Enrique claims “it’s almost unbelievable that we’ve left here with just one goal” following Barcelona’s 2-1 defeat to Sevilla in La Liga on Saturday.

La Blaugrana fell to their second League reverse in seven matches as Neymar’s penalty was not enough to cancel out earlier finishes from Michael Krohn-Dehli and Vicente Iborra.

The result consigned Barca to their worst start since 2003, but the Coach insists his side “did everything possible” to leave Sanchez Pizjuan with more than a solitary spot-kick.

“No-one at Barca can be happy after losing a match,” he said after the game.

“Both teams had many chances, but it’s almost unbelievable that we’ve left here with just one goal after seeing the ball move around [Sevilla’s] penalty area.

“We did everything possible [to score more] but must congratulate Sevilla for their efforts and the result.

“Even though we suffered, I preferred to have seen us take more control. Our style of play revolves around control.

“These Barcelona players are of the highest level. We always seek to have as many chances as possible because the individual quality of our players normally results in goals.

“We’re not at our best in terms of scoring, but that’ll change.

“I really enjoyed the game, but this is what happens when two teams [like Sevilla and Barca] play with desire and a need to get points.”
