Enrique ‘surprised’ by Sevilla slump

Luis Enrique says he is “surprised” by Sevilla's indifferent start to the season but has warned his Barcelona players not to underestimate them on Saturday.

The Andalucians were forced to wait until the sixth matchday for a first win in La Liga, having beaten Rayo Vallecano 3-2 last week, but the Coach believes La Blaugrana's next opponents are going through nothing more than a mere blip.

“I see an eagerness from some people outside the club for things to go wrong,” he said at a Press conference.

“Regardless, we're like a fish staying afloat no matter what, and we'll continue giving our opponents war.

“It's an interesting week when our rivals [Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid] are facing each other, but the only way we can take advantage is by winning Seville.

“That's the only scenario which can make it a great weekend for us.

“The international break is always a relief for me. After seven games in 22 days, we'd have little time to recover or fix anything.

“I think Neymar's absence [due to a ban] is going to come in handy for us.

“Both teams are experiencing problems ahead of the match, with many injuries, but they are situations which occur throughout the season, and we've always seen teams with these problem. It's part of football.

“I expect a difficult game, the latest in a run of seven games in 21 or 22 days, so any fatigue and difficulties will be felt more.

“Knowing Sevilla and their coach, [their struggles] have surprised me. This reinforces our theory of how difficult it is to win.

“Everyone wants to win, so it's very difficult. In the modern game, to win and keep winning is very difficult, making our challenge [against Sevilla] difficult.”
