Escriba: Celta difficult, but…

Fran Escriba accepts Getafe will have a hard game on Friday night against Celta Vigo but believes his side can cause an upset.

Getafe go into the fixture with six points from six games while Celta would go top if they won, three points leapfrogging them past Real Madrid, Barcelona and Villarreal, at least until the rest of Week 7 is played out.

“Celta have started very well. For several years they’ve played good football and changed little,” Escriba said at a Press conference, AS reports.

“As a viewer I enjoy them and as they’ve shown they have arguments for beating the big teams. They could be high in the middle of the table.

“We see ourselves as aspiring to the European positions and to win there would prove that we are ready to compete. It’s difficult, but we have arguments.”

Escriba was asked if he could field two strikers in an attempt to find a first away goal but suggested that isn’t a switch he is prepared to make.

“Celta play with three in midfield and if you don’t control the midfield it won’t help to have two forwards,” the Coach replied.

“We’ve found ourselves behind early in games and that must be corrected. Maybe we don’t go with proper concentration.

“We need to make a leap of ambition away from home because the points are worth the same and we have to go for three points at every ground.”
