Jackson ‘frustrated’ by goal drought

Jackson Martinez admits his lack of Atletico Madrid goals is bothering him as Benfica took a Champions League win from their Vicente Calderon visit.

Atletico took the lead in the first half only for the Portuguese side to fight back after the break and former Porto striker Martinez lamented a rough evening, both for the club and on a personal level.

“It wasn’t easy. We had the chance to score more than one goal in the first half but we failed. That allowed them to equalise,” he said, AS reports.

“The drought is frustrating because I feel the support of the fans, teammates and coaches and want to give my best to make things right and nothing.

“Things aren’t as I would like but I will continue working for the next match, the derby. I can do better.

“Now we think about Real Madrid, correct what wasn’t done right and increase the positive things.”
