Nacho: Benitez can count on me

Nacho has told Real Madrid Coach Rafa Benitez that he won’t let him down wherever he is picked to play, including left-back.

The defender appeared before the press with Benitez to preview Los Blancos’ Champions League game against Malmo and, with Sergio Ramos and Pepe not involved, Nacho is likely to play.

“I’m very excited and eager to get three points. All I want is to play a great game and keep a clean sheet,” he said, AS reports.

“I try to do my best when I play and train so I ca get minutes. I haven’t had what I have wanted, but I enjoy it.

“I haven’t spoken with Benitez on whether I can replace Marcelo, but he knows he can count on me in any of the four positions in defence.”

Regarding Wednesday’s opposition, Nacho admitted Madrid don’t know that much about their hosts but insists they’re taking nothing for granted.

“We expect a very strong team, although we know it will be hard at home,” he continued.

“We’ll try to play our game while knowing about the dangers in attack. I know [Malmo captain Markus] Rosenberg from his time at Racing Santander.

“We know they are a good team. It’s true we don’t follow the Swedish League but we know they are dominant at home.”
