Iniesta ‘out for four to six weeks’

Andres Iniesta’s hamstring injury, suffered as Barcelona came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen, looks like keeping him out for at least a month.

Iniesta asked to be replaced after an hour of the 2-1 victory and went off with Barca trailing a Kyriakos Papadopoulos goal.

Sergi Roberto and Luis Suarez scored in the last 10 minutes to give Barca the victory but it was confirmed post-match that Iniesta was the latest name on Barca’s injury list.

The club offered no information on how long the captain was likely to miss but AS cites a report from El Laguero that puts Iniesta’s absence at between four and six weeks.

Iniesta joins Thomas Vermaelen, Adriano, Rafinha and Lionel Messi as unavailable to Coach Luis Enrique, Rafinha out for the season and Messi expected to miss the next two months.

AS also notes that Iniesta is a doubt for Spain’s next two fixtures, at home to Luxembourg on October 9 and away at Ukraine on October 12, both Euro 2016 qualifiers.
