Enrique: Barca injuries a joke

Luis Enrique was bordering on disbelief as he assessed another injury to his Barcelona squad, this time to Andres Iniesta.

Iniesta went off after an hour of the Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen with the Catalans trailing, Sergio Roberto and Luis Suarez scoring late on to turn the game around.

The Iniesta news saddens us, first for the player and then because it seems like a joke,” the Coach commented, AS reports.

“It’s a handicap and we have to show how competitive we are. I’m happy with how the team took it and I ask for more confidence in the players. It’s not a simple situation.

“Sometimes you win through faith and other times through heart, other times through confidence. They had their chances. The result reinforces the team.

“We needed more support from the fans when things weren’t going our way. You hear the whistles a lot at pitch level.

“The credit this team has deserves greater support. They deserve more faith, more unwavering credit.

“If we don’t run, that’s fair, but the team tried a lot. The support would be very welcome.

“If we didn’t win we wouldn’t be group leaders, but I had already warned this would be a complicated team to play.”
