Alcaraz: Defeat was excessive

Lucas Alcaraz refused to read too much into Levante’s 3-0 defeat to Getafe on Sunday. “It’s unthinkable that there was more than one goal in it.”

The pair of La Liga strugglers were stuck at stalemate until the 81st minute, when Alvaro Vazquez broke the deadlock for El Geta, before the striker and and Emiliano Buendia added another two in stoppage time.

“In terms of how the match panned out, it’s unthinkable that there was more than one goal in it,” he said after the game.

“[Getafe] had more presence in attack without making any clear-cut chances.

“It was a balanced game, one which should’ve been decided by a single goal.

“We conceded more goals because we heroically went in search of an equaliser.

"We had less recovery time [than Getafe] and are a small squad, with a few injuries, but it’s true that there were too many misplaced passes, which could’ve been avoided.”
