Busquets rues Barca ‘bad luck’

Sergio Busquets lamented Barcelona’s “bad luck” after Lionel Messi’s two-month injury layoff curtailed Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Las Palmas in La Liga.

The No 10 faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines, having ruptured the MCL in his left knee against the new boys, and the midfielder admitted La Blaugrana’s win paled in significance to the loss of their talisman.

“We know that if Leo complains then something’s wrong,” he told Canal+ after the game.

“He’s the best player in the world, our best player. We’re having bad luck with injuries and more so when we can’t register or sign any replacements.

“In the second half, we were much better than in the first. We had some chances and even missed a penalty, but a silly move [Jonathan Viera’s goal] meant we suffered for the final five minutes.

“Still, the worst news is the injury to our best player.

“We let three important points go at a difficult venue [Balaidos], but luckily we were able to win [on Saturday].

“Now we’re thinking about our next match in the Champions League.”
