Nuno admits Valencia ‘anxiety’

Nuno Santo admitted Valencia showed signs of “uneasiness and anxiety” during Friday’s 1-0 victory over Granada in La Liga.

The Coach’s job was reportedly on the line heading into the match at Los Carmenes, with Los Che having won only one of their last seven games, but Shkodran Mustafi emerged as his side’s unlikely hero midway through the first half.

“It’s true that there were things that we reflected on the pitch, such as uneasiness and anxiety,” he said after the game.

“Still, it’s important that we’re clear on continuing with our work because everything hasn’t been resolved yet.

“It’s evident that the production of chances is there, so we must try to minimise our errors and maximise our success [in front of goal].

“There will come a time when more of our chances result in goals.

“Everything we do follows a plan and some preliminary analysis. We know how to play our next opponents [Lyon].

“They play with a diamond midfield, so we’ll have to pack our midfield too. This will lead to changes being made.

“However, the most important thing is that we’re on the right track because we’re looking for higher returns.”
