‘Las Palmas earned victory’

Paco Herrera accepts Sevilla are in a dire run of form but believes his Las Palmas side earned their 2-0 win.

Roque Mesa and Antolin Alcaraz scored as the Champions League team left Gran Canaria without taking a point and bottom of the League.

“Their passing game is tremendous, like a basketball team,” Herrera said post-match, AS reports.

“They’re not in good form but we have earned this result.

“I played Javi Varas in goal because he knows Sevilla and because he is calm, he has football in his feet.

“Why did I take off [Juan Emmanuel] Culio? We’ll leave that there. I’ll answer that in two months.

“Wakaso Mubarak had great game. He’s impulsive but he was calm.

“Barcelona next? It might be a headache for us, what happened to them [losing 4-1 to Celta Vigo] but we have a 10% chance of winning and we have to hold on to it.”
