Javier Mascherano insisted there are ‘no excuses’ for why Barcelona were convincingly beaten by Celta Vigo.
Celta romped to a 4-1 win through an Iago Aspas brace and goals from Nolito and John Guidetti, with Neymar netting for the Catalans.
“They overwhelmed us in the score line and in the play, which is most worrying. They won the individual duels,” the Argentina international admitted, AS reports.
“It always hurts to lose for Barca. The best thing is to think of Saturday and to look carefully at last season.
“It’s part their credit and our failure. There are no excuses. They deserved to win and worked well. The most worrying thing is we feel overwhelmed. That’s the worst.”
