Marcelino: Malaga’s situation temporary

Marcelino doesn’t believe Villarreal’s midweek opponents Malaga will find themselves at the bottom of the table for the duration of the campaign.

Malaga go to El Madrigal with only two points from their first four games after a summer that saw key players leave, including both Samu Castillejo and Samu Garcia, who joined Villarreal.

“It should be a special game for both of them but I don’t know how they will each face it, although I think it’ll be a strange feeling,” Marca quotes Marcelino as saying of the reunion.

“It’s not that they’ve played at Malaga but that they grew up there, and it is a strange feeling. It’s not something I’ll consider as I’m sure both will want to play.”

Regarding the team the pair left behind, Marcelino expects to see Malaga push up the table in due course.

“It’s too early to be desperate. Seeing their games, their situation is temporary. I see them high in the middle of the table,”

“They have the potential to surprise anyone. For me they are a very good team, better than many of the teams we have faced.”
