Unai Emery is demanding a repeat performance of Tuesday’s victory over Borussia Monchengladbach when Sevilla host Celta Vigo on Sunday.
The Andalucians head into Week 3 second from bottom in La Liga, having drawn two and lost one of their opening three games, but picked up their first win of the season in the Champions League as they inflicted a 3-0 defeat on the Bundesliga side.
“There’s a lot of demand from the competitions we’re playing in, and we seek a reflection of how the team played on Tuesday, with dynamism, intensity and aggressiveness in our game,” the Coach said at a Press conference.
“On Sunday, the demands will be very high because Celta are a team who like to play the game one-on-one, so we need to be at a high level physically.
“The League is our main competition and the most important. There are 38 finals and no excuses for failing to produce the best possible performances.
“Still, I have full confidence in all the players and rotations will only be tailored to our physical condition or the needs of a certain match.
“I’ve faced Celta [at Sanchez Pizjuan] three times. The first was a 4-1 win, but that Celta have since evolved as they put us in trouble under Luis Enrique two seasons ago.
“We weren’t able to win that match as we lost by a single goal but won last time out. Celta demand high concentration and physical levels of us.
“[Benoit] Tremoulinas has a bruised knee. We tried him out in training, but he was unable to participate.
“We can play either [Timothee] Kolodziejczak, Coke or Mariano [at left-back], but we’ll prioritise our work on ensuring a competitive XI [for the match].”
