David Moyes has played down the unrest currently engulfing Real Sociedad following their winless start to the season.

The Scot has come under fire for La Real’s inability to score after three games, one of which came against newly-promoted Real Betis with a man down in the second half.

Out-of-favour midfielder David Zurutuza has also criticised Moyes’ tactics to the local Press this week, while Carlos Vela admitted he could leave the club in January.

“I’m aware of Zurutuza and Vela’s statements and I have no problem with them,” he said ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Espanyol in La Liga.

“Vela is an important and special player. He’s essential and necessary to our project.

“We did well in our first two games but had bad luck. You never know if it’s good to face a team [Espanyol] just after they’ve been heavily beaten by Real Madrid.

“I hope we win on Saturday because we’ve prepared well for this match. If you win, the atmosphere is good. If you lose, it’s not as good.”
